02 BROOKLYN LAB COFFEE REBRAND - Passion Project 2024
The Opportunity
In Brooklyn's diverse neighborhoods, coffee shops often unintentionally reinforce cultural divides. My goal for this project was to challenge this norm. I wanted to design Brooklyn Lab Coffee: a "third space" that uses adaptive design and sensory-driven systems to ensure that every customer—regardless of their language or background—feels a sense of belonging.
The Work
I created a holistic brand and service system that transforms ordering coffee into a universal sensory journey. Moving away from language-heavy interfaces, I designed intuitive, mobile-first touchpoints and adaptive spatial concepts. The project focuses on 'effortless connection,' using visual and tactile cues to bridge gaps between different cultural groups in an urban setting.
The Outcome
Although a conceptual project, Brooklyn Lab Coffee was awarded five industry honors for its innovative methodology. It serves as a compelling case study in how visual design can reduce language barriers, offering a blueprint for more inclusive "third spaces" in multicultural urban environments.
